Jennifer Hawkins and I have something in common. It’s not so much a physical trait (a girl can dream) but more so a geographical one.
You see Jen has recently set up house down the road from me, and frequents one of my favourite local hangouts – COOH Cafe & Specialty Roaster in North Curl Curl. A few weeks ago she gave the hip cafe a shout out on Instagram (and to her army of devoted followers) – which I think was well deserved. Talk about sweet PR! One of the best things about COOH is that you rarely have to wait for a table. Compared to the jam-packed cafes a few suburbs away in Manly, COOH retains its local feel.
The staff are friendly and remember your name, whilst churning out some of the best coffee on the Northern Beaches. The cafe fit-out is rustic, comfy and appealing, with lots of nice touches such as tiny succulent plants on each table, heavy good quality crockery and stuff served in jars. Who doesn’t like stuff served in jars?
Food wise they cater well for guys and gals, with lots of sweet fruit options as well as a ‘big breakky’ to satisfy the hungry post-surf crowd. My favourite breakfast is the quinoa porridge with oat milk, stewed fruit and yoghurt. I’ve also heard their lunch-time burgers are pretty outstanding.
Also try: a HUGE fresh juice (beetroot, ginger, carrot, celery & apple is my favourite) – at only $6 it’s a steal.
Address: 17/64 Pitt Rd, North Curl Curl, NSW
Opens at 7am.
