Before I was captivated by Mudgee this Easter long weekend (see Mudgee Food Diaries), I fell for the Blue Mountains. An easy day-trip from Sydney that has somehow eluded me until now. We walked the National Pass Trail, starting and finishing at Wentworth Falls. An easy 3-hour loop that cuts halfway up the cliff and offers stunning views of the falls.
However if you’re up for a bit more adventure (think ladders and creek crossings), get off the tourist trail and try Wentworth Pass or Tabletop walks. I seriously struggled to find a decent website for Blue Mountains walk info – the best of a poor bunch was Wild Walks or Blue Mountains Australia Info. Pack a lunch, throw in some swimmers (if you can brave the chilly waterholes) and breathe in that clean air. It’s grounding and throws all that other life crap into perspective. Plus the steps are killer for your thighs.
