Maca is a powdered root that has a mild malt flavour and has been used for centuries to help balance hormones, increase energy, boost libido (ooh la la!) and is also rich in essential B vitamins. You can find maca in all health food stores. Combined with cacao and the sweetness of Medjool dates it creates a slightly caramel flavour.
It continues to amaze me how flavoursome and sweet healthy food can be when you take the time to experiment and prepare it in different ways. Especially when it comes to fruit.
